Not in modern history have we been propelled into such uncharted territory as presented by the novel coronavirus.
For 15+ years, Sustainable Brands has been a collective force of members, community, brands and staff all driven by the mission to recraft our global economy to enable a flourishing future for all. The events since the outbreak of the coronavirus underscore the importance of that mission more than ever today and reinforce the need to turn this crisis— which has opened the eyes of the world to our interconnection— into an opportunity to accelerate progress against that goal.
Throughout the world are positive signs that reduced emissions in China and Italy have resulted in cleaner air, reduced CO2 levels, cleaner waters and more. Forbes suggests that the number of lives saved by the reduction of pollution resulting from our slow down will far outpace those lost to coronavirus.
This is a trying time, but history has shown that human beings possess a remarkable ability to find opportunities where there seem to be none. To pivot in the face of adversity and to learn from mistakes. We at SB are committed to working jointly with you and our entire community to continue our mission in the face of this trial we face together.
- Some of our events, including our annual flagship event, scheduled for June 1-4 in Long Beach, CA may not happen in a physical sense as gatherings, shelter in place orders and social distancing continue to go into effect across the US and abroad. We are in active discussions with our facility and hotels for a new date later in 2020.
- The Sustainable Brands staff is committed to the safety of our members, friends, family and partners, as much as we are to the mission to build a regenerative economy that will restore our planet for our children and grandchildren — and to protect the livelihoods of those who are direct and indirect stakeholders of our business as best we are able.
- We are developing alternative plans for continuing our work together while respecting the needs of the moment, and are committed to sharing details of our plan by April 14th.
In the meantime, you can rest assured Sustainable Brands is committed more than ever to enabling our community to convene, learn from each other, and identify key partners and solutions providers that are best equipped to support this work.
