Natura and Symrise Amazon gain ingredients certification

PRESS RELEASE - Natura Cosmeticos and Symrise Amazon have both received Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) certification for ingredients from the Amazon. The UEBT has awarded certification for 40 natural ingredients from the companies confirming the ingredients are ethically sourced from 14 supplier communities in the Brazilian Amazon. Ingredients include: andiroba, maracujá oil, cupuaçu butter and acai pulp. Marcelo Alonso, Director of Sustainability at Natura, said: "We are proud to have gained the UEBT certification for 14 Amazon supplier communities, which further reinforces our commitment to ethical sourcing from this important ecosystem."

Dow Joins The Recycling Partnership

Unilever signs $200 million deal for renewable algae oils

PRESS RELEASE - TerraVia, formerly known as Solazyme, has pioneered the use of algae technology to produce specialist ingredients for the food and consumer goods sector on a commercial scale. The oil will be produced at its Solazyme Bunge Renewable Oils facility in Brazil, which produces more oil per hectare with a lower greenhouse gas footprint than nearly all major commercially available plant oils. The latest agreement builds on an initial supply relationship between the two companies for renewable algae oils that Unilever began incorporating into its products in 2014. Jonathan Wolfson, TerraVia’s CEO, said: “Our mission is to deliver products from algae that are better for people and better for our planet.”

Dow Wins UPM Raflatac Label Life Awards 2016

Interface builds boat from 7,000 plastic bottles to tackle ocean pollution

PRESS RELEASE - The world's largest carpet tile manufacturer has joined forces with a plastic fishing company to design and create a unique boat made from more than 7,000 plastic bottles fished from the canals of Amsterdam. The innovative collaboration between Interface and Plastic Whale seeks to raise awareness of the dangers of river and ocean pollution and drive plastic waste elimination from global waters.
