DuPont Industrial Biosciences Collaborates with Anta on Chinese Delegation’s Olympic Champion Uniforms

PRESS RELEASE - DuPont Industrial Biosciences announced a collaboration with Chinese sports brand Anta in the design of champion uniforms for Chinese Olympic team members using DuPont™ Sorona® – a sustainable, patented fiber made with renewable, plant-based ingredients. Sorona® – which leverages innovation and sustainability to produce fibers that are uniquely soft, extremely durable and have excellent stretch and recovery – will be a key ingredient in the Chinese team’s “Dragon Uniform” at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Disney Buys Up Carbon Credits in Mondulkiri, Cambodia

PRESS RELEASE - The Walt Disney Company has purchased $2.6 million in carbon credits in the forests of Mondulkuri province – marking the largest carbon credit sale to date in Cambodia and breathing life into a carbon-trading program many had written off as all but dead. In collaboration with the Cambodian government and brokered by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), the US-based media giant will purchase 360,000 tonnes worth of carbon emissions in Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary in a bid to offset its global carbon footprint.

“Sport Infinity” Project Promises Zero Waste and Recyclability

PRESS RELEASE - When we look at the statistics, it is still very clear that women are extremely underrepresented in Science, Technology and Math (STEM) careers. Half of the U.S. workforce is female, and half of the college population, however, only 28% are in STEM fields[1] and only 39% of chemists and material scientists, 28 percent of environmental scientists and geoscientists, 16 percent of chemical engineers and 12 percent of civil engineers are female[2]. Additionally, research shows that women who complete STEM degrees are less likely than males to actually pursue a STEM career.

WWF and Toyota Form Global Partnership, Join Forces on Living Asian Forest Project and Climate Change

PRESS RELEASE - WWF and Toyota Motor Corporation have entered into a five-year agreement aimed at accelerating the globe's transition to sustainability. Through this partnership, the organizations will work together to promote biodiversity conservation, raise environmental awareness and accelerate the move toward a "zero carbon" society. Toyota is the first car company and the first Japanese company to sign a Global Corporate Partnership agreement with WWF. The agreement went into effect on July 1, 2016.

Unilever and IFF Team Up with NGOs on Haiti Vetiver Project

PRESS RELEASE - International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) and Unilever have announced a new partnership with leading non-governmental associations (NGOs) to enhance the livelihoods of smallholder vetiver farmers in Haiti. Goals set for Vetiver Together, as the project is known, include sustainably improving food security, increasing yields and diversifying income, as well as working to support women’s empowerment and environmental conservation. The project is supported by the Enhancing Livelihoods Fund – a partnership between Unilever, Oxfam Great Britain and the Ford Foundation, and will be implemented by Heifer International.

Chevy Bolt EV Plant Ranks 8th among Green Power Users

Toyota Trialling Hydrogen-Fuelled Vehicles in Australia

PRESS RELEASE - Toyota believes hydrogen-fuelled vehicles are more viable than electric ones — and it has brought three of its Mirai models to Australia to prove it. The Mirai is already on sale in Europe, Japan and California and uses an on-board fuel cell to convert hydrogen into electricity. The small demonstration fleet will be accompanied by a portable refuelling station, which will allow the company to tour the vehicle around the country for maximum exposure. When the Mirai’s hydrogen supply is running low, it can be fully refuelled in a matter of minutes — a stark contrast to the longer charging times of most electric vehicles. The Mirai can also travel roughly 500km before needing a refill.

Mattel Plans to Cut Utility Bills 40% Using Recycled Water

PRESS RELEASE - Mattel recently became a California water agency’s newest recycled water customer, which will save about 2 million gallons of drinking water per year in the drought-stricken state. The global toy maker, whose brands include Barbie, Fisher-Price and Hot Wheels, among others, said that using recycled water for irrigation at its El Segundo corporate campus will also save money. “It does cost less for Mattel to purchase recycled water rather than potable water for irrigation,” said Sarah Levine, Mattel global sustainability manager. “The city of El Segundo and [water district] West Basin both sell recycled water for reduced rates.”
