•More than 250,000 youth with the greatest need will receive technology access and support to enhance learning in 2013 •Students from around the world to discuss issues of importance to them and ideas of how to address at Student Voice LIVE! presented by Dell Today at Clinton Global Initiative University, Dell announced that more than 250,000 youth in 15 countries will be reached in 2013 as part of its Powering the Possible youth learning initiative. The goal is to help close the learning gap for youth worldwide who may not have access to the facilities, teachers and technology they need for a better education. Additionally, Dell will present Student Voice LIVE! on April 13 in New York, a student summit created for and by students to discuss and create action plans for how to address issues of importance to them — from personalized learning to uncommon routes of learning to the possibilities with entrepreneurship and education. This builds upon Dell’s commitment to help students bring their entrepreneurial ideas to fruition through programs such as the Dell Social Innovation Challenge (DSIC) and last year’s Dell Education Challenge, the first DSIC spotlight challenge to solicit and bring forward students’ ideas for closing the learning gap. Powering the Possible Youth Learning Initiative Dell’s Powering the Possible youth learning initiative helps teach students skills to prepare them for school, work and life maximizing their learning ability through technology access, and increasing their potential in a highly technological, global world. In addition, Dell team members volunteer their time and expertise to help grant recipients and serve as role models and mentors to youth. The 68 programs and charities, selected through a rigorous process engaging Dell team members and Dell’s leaders, share the vision to prepare youth for success through the development of information and communications technology skills. Dell committed in 2013 it will provide direct support to more than 250,000 children worldwide in this program. Last year, the program trained more than 11,000 educators and Dell team members volunteered nearly 80,000 hours just with youth learning programs. Join a Day of Innovation in Learning at Student Voice LIVE! April 13, 2013 Dell empowers students to have a seat at the table and help make decisions on issues of importance to them and the world. Students, teachers, parents and education and community leaders will come together at Student Voice LIVE! to discuss and collaborate on action plans to address personalized learning, uncommon routes of learning, the possibilities with entrepreneurship and education and more. This student summit is created in collaboration with Student Voice and supported by Microsoft and Intel.
