Barcode scanning highlights the latest feature upgrades Scottsdale, Ariz., August 2, 2012--Finding recycling, reuse and proper disposal options for any number of consumer products just got faster and easier, thanks to recent developments at Earth911, creator of the nation’s largest recycling and proper disposal directory. The upgrades improve the Earth911 Recycling Locator, the company’s flagship product, and create actionable engagement using the information in Earth911’s Recycling Directory. The recycling directory indexes more than 1.5 million ways to properly dispose of goods, from commonly recycled items such as plastics, to hard-to-recycle items such as household hazardous waste, building materials, e-waste and batteries. “The Recycling Locator is more than just a recycling search engine: it takes the sum of Earth911’s expert knowledge in recycling access and wraps it up in a simple, intuitive, and dynamic solution,” explained Tony Ash, director of platform and applications for Earth911. The Earth911 Recycling Locator has a versatile suite of integration options which address a wide variety of issues regarding locating recycling and proper disposal options. The most recent Earth911 client to launch its own Recycling Locator is Castrol, who unveiled their Recycling Locator iframe last week to help consumers find recycling for used motor oil and motor oil containers. The three most popular methods for integrating the Recycling Locator into an application or website are: - Implement barcode scanning technology for immediate product-specific results. Companies can rapidly integrate UPC/2D barcode scanning into a new or existing mobile application. This allows consumers to identify what materials a product is made of and simultaneously identify where it can be recycled nearby. - Develop a drop-in-place recycling information solution without IT resources. Companies can provide their consumers immediate access to recycling information for their products on their own website using an iframe. - Create a custom Recycling Locator web integration. Working with Earth911's expert team of software engineers and interactive designers, a company can develop its own branded locator to address specific needs of its consumer audience. Des Johnson, Regional Marketing Director – Americas for Castrol, stated, “Consumers are asking for help with used motor oil and we know from previous experience that Earth911 can deliver the best solution. We are pleased to be continuing our relationship with Earth911 and taking our commitment to the environment to a new level with the implementation of a locator to help our consumers responsibly dispose of used oil.” Earth911 President Corey Lambrecht called the new Recycling Locator features an industry breakthrough. “For two decades, Earth911 has led the charge of consumer awareness through the power of our recycling directory; now any consumer product company can directly tap that power in the most simple way, with the easy integration of features like barcode scanning, without requiring additional space on a label.” To see examples of the above implementations visit http://business.earth911.com.
