What: The Great Bear Forest Carbon Project – one of the largest carbon management projects in the world and is helping to protect more than 6 million hectares of land on British Columbia’s coast – will be the focal point for Offsetters Climate Solutions as they present at Sustainable Brands: London. The conference is attended by brand leaders from corporations like 3M, H&M, Coca-Cola, Adidas, and Target.

At a point when more than half the world’s coastal temperate rainforests have been consumed by logging and development, it took immense courage and foresight from coastal First Nations, and representatives from the province of British Columbia to work together on an approach that values the forest not as a source of lumber alone, but as a balanced system that sustains both biodiversity and vibrant communities.

By creating a conservation economy that puts a dollar value on carbon absorption and storage, the forest is recognized by the market as a valuable asset of global importance.

Who: Christopher Hakes, Director of Client Engagement for Offsetters Climate Solutions, a leading carbon management solutions company based in Vancouver, BC, will be speaking as part of a panel discussion The Value of Deeper Collaboration: Evolving Partnerships around Deforestation at Sustainable Brands: London.

Using the forest products industry as an example, this panel will explore three supply chain innovations and pioneering conservation initiatives from across the globe. This panel will illustrate examples where brands are making a difference and helping to drive solutions that meet the social and environmental challenges facing today’s biggest corporations.

Offsetters Climate Solution has partnered with Sustainable Brands events in London, San Diego, and Boston to offset their carbon footprint using a portfolio of credits, which includes the Great Bear Forest Carbon Project.
