Many Sustainable Brands Corporate Members have been named in DiversityInc’s Top 50 Companies for Diversity). The list was created in 2001 in response to the emerging business value of diversity-management initiatives. To participate, each company must submit a form, have at least 1,000 employees, and complete NOD’s disability employment tracker. The company then receives a subsequent report card which evaluates its performance in talent pipeline, talent development, leadership accountability, and supplier diversity in comparison to competitors within the same industry.
Of the 893 participants this year, many of our corporate members placed in the top 50 including Johnson & Johnson, AT&T, Mastercard, Cox Communications, BASF, Target, The Walt Disney Co., General Motors, The Hershey Company, CVS Health, Humana, and Dow Chemical.
Sustainable Brands corporate members continue to lead in diversity and inclusion management:
- Johnson & Johnson claims the number one spot under the leadership ofCEO and Chairman Alex Gorsky who leads the diversity council, ensuring that women, minorities, and veterans are represented in the company.
- AT&T holds a spot in the top three for the second year due to their exceptional diverse representation at every level in the company, especially for women and women of color.
- Mastercard has consistently been named on the list since 2013 and accomplished even more this year with focuses on closing the gender wage gap and representation of women.
- Cox Communications reached its highest ranking this year, as it continues to ramp up diversity initiatives both within and outside of the company.
- BASF is named one of the top leaders for the fifth consecutive year, emphasizing their commitment to their employees, customers, and communities.
- Target is a steady leader in promoting more women and minorities in their workforce, especially in top level management, making this their sixth recognition on the list.
- The Walt Disney Company greatly improved its score and ranking this year, with a large number of African-Americans and women in management.

General Motors appears on the list following a new partnership with Girls Who Code, supporting young girls in STEM.
- Hershey also makes it to the Top 50 for its solid representation of women in senior leadership positions.
- CVS Health appears on the list for the second year in a row, expanding its workforce diversity by placing more women and minorities in mid-level and senior-level leadership roles.
- Humana is recognized for the first time on the list this year, highlighting the company’s belief in the power of diversity to drive innovation.
- Dow Chemical also makes it onto the list for the first time, stressing the importance of inclusion in the workplace to provide the best possible environment for its employees to succeed.
