SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., April 25, 2012 – The Sustainable Brands Innovation Open (SBIO) has recently issued a challenge to for-profit start-ups: offer ideas that improve people’s lives and/or the environment.
This new action comes in the wake of a partnership between SBIO and GOOD Maker, an online tool that enables organizations to engage the public to make good happen. Through GOOD Maker, the community is able to participate in challenges by generating, promoting, supporting, and implementing innovative ideas for social change.
The winner of the SBIO’s challenge will become the tenth finalist in the SBIO ’12 Conference taking place in San Diego June 4-7, 2012. A panel of esteemed judges chooses the other nine finalists from privately submitted entries. Deadline for submitting ideas to GOOD Maker is May 4, at which time they are opened for the public vote.
“We are excited to partner with the Sustainable Brands Innovation Open to find the next big idea in social innovation and sustainable business,” said Rei Wang, GOOD Maker’s Strategic Partnerships Manager. “We believe great ideas can come from anyone or anywhere, and GOOD Maker is a great tool for everyone to contribute their ideas on how to drive the world forward."
All ten finalists receive free admission to the conference and an opportunity to display at the conference and pitch to attendees, including a global live-stream audience. Additionally, SBIO finalists will present their company’s offering to a group of social investors, executives from leading companies, top brand consultants and peers.
Submissions are accepted under two categories. Entrants may be in the Idea Phase, where the applicant has a complete business plan but no more than $100,000 of capital invested into the venture so far. Entrants may also be in the Post-Launch Phase, where their venture is operational and has some early operating metrics to share.
More information, and links to submit an idea and to vote are at: http://sbio.maker.good.is.
