SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., January 31, 2012 – Sustainable Brands today revealed the theme and program focus for SB’12, the sixth annual gathering of 1000 brand leaders and sustainability executives. “The Revolution Will Be Branded” is set to explore the business transformation, market drivers and sustainability innovation underway in response to growing activism by consumers and citizens around the globe.
“Since the beginning of this century, a consumer revolution has been brewing that in 2012 is set to explode,” said KoAnn Vikoren Skrzyniarz, CEO, Sustainable Brands. “Around the world, and across multiple demographic segments, a growing understanding of the connection between business activities and consumer choice, and the health and future of our families, our communities, and the planet, is spurring a revolution in the way society will define, create and measure value for the future.
“Sustainable brand leaders see brands as a platform for purpose and are already playing a role in supporting the revolution which fundamentally seeks to steer society back toward a flourishing future,” notes Ms. Skrzyniarz. From Patagonia’s call to reduced consumption by encouraging less frequent purchases of higher quality apparel and Zipcar’s enablement of consumption, to Levi’s campaign to build a consumer and brand partnership around smarter water use, this year’s conference will explore how smart brands are increasingly seeking and finding ways to embed purpose into the core of their brand. Sessions will explore how brands can and are using a deeper statement of purpose to drive innovation through the many stakeholder touch points brands engage with. We see brands having the opportunity to become heroes by leading the revolution to a sustainable and flourishing future.
Sustainable Brands has become ground zero for those sustainability, brand and design leaders who have been working to understand and leverage environmental and social innovation as a driver of brand innovation and value. This year, the Sustainable Brands community gathers June 4-7 at the Paradise Point Resort in San Diego for SB’12 where attendees will learn from the brands that are succeeding in turning their brands into platforms for purpose.
