BEST got its start in 2012, training Seattle and Washington State hotel employees how to spot and report signs of sex trafficking. Mar Brettman, executive director of BEST, told the Seattle Times that the organization has trained 700 hotel employees across the state, with 44 percent of participating hoteliers reporting suspected cases to police, up from 8 percent in the year before the training.
