Jim joined Brambles in 2020, bringing more than 25 years of work in global sustainability to his role as Head of Sustainability for North America. In his role, Jim leads all internal sustainability programs and helps customers use Brambles’ circular business model to create greater shared value for all stakeholders. Brambles, operating through the global CHEP brand and its 360+ million ‘pooled’ pallets and containers, helps move more goods to more people in more places than any other organization. Its circular, share, repair and reuse model is inherently more sustainable than single-use alternatives. To amplify the positive impact of this ‘pooled’ system, Jim builds on the principles of sustainable development to uncover business efficiencies and growth opportunities while addressing global challenges.
Jim considers it his life’s work to create the conditions conducive to thriving lives for all. Before joining Brambles, he served as a two-term national chairman for the U.S. Green Building Council, helping establish national councils in India, Brazil, Mexico and Canada. He has also worked with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and, during the Clinton Administration, served the President’s Council on Sustainable Development. In his adopted hometown of Atlanta, he co-founded the local chapter of Conscious Capitalism. Formerly with Hartzfeld Sustainability Advisors, Interface, Dupont and Conoco Oil Company, Jim holds a chemical engineering degree from the University of Missouri and an MBA from the Goizueta Business School of Emory University.
