Interface Expands Carbon Neutral Floors Program to Include nora Rubber Flooring Products

Program Now Extends to Entire Portfolio – Carpet Tile, LVT and Rubber

Global commercial flooring company and leader in sustainability, Interface, announces that nora® rubber flooring is now included in its Carbon Neutral Floors™ program. As a result, Interface’s entire product portfolio – carpet tile, luxury vinyl tile (LVT), and now nora rubber flooring – is carbon neutral across its product lifecycle as of Jan. 1, 2019.

“Quickly after the acquisition, we committed ourselves to better understand nora’s rubber flooring manufacturing process and supply chain as part of our carbon neutral floors offering,” said Erin Meezan, chief sustainability officer, Interface. “While we have work to do to reduce the carbon footprint in rubber flooring manufacturing, we are beginning to apply our 25 years of experience reducing Interface’s carbon emissions to accelerate our progress on nora products. To reach carbon neutrality, we calculate the remaining greenhouse gas emissions for the entire lifecycle of our products and invest in verified emission reduction projects located all over the world to offset these emissions.”

In June 2018, Interface became the first global flooring manufacturer to declare that all of its products – including carpet tile and LVT – are carbon neutral across the entire product lifecycle. Offered as standard to every customer, at no extra cost, the program helps them meet their own sustainability goals while also allowing them to reduce the emissions impact of their projects or spaces. Interface has taken a holistic approach to carbon neutrality, looking beyond carbon emissions from manufacturing to considering and calculating emissions across the entire product lifecycle.
