thinkstep Strengthens Product Suite with BOMcheck and EC4P
Additions establish company leadership with complete product sustainability solutions from initial design through end-of-life recycling
Stuttgart/Boston/London, Sept. 16, 2015 – thinkstep announced today that it has acquired the www.BOMcheck.net substance declarations web database and the www.EC4P.com recycling compliance management system. The new additions make thinkstep the only company to offer a full line of sustainability solutions from product design to material selection, procurement, compliance, through to the end-of-life recycling. BOMcheck remains an independent, collaborative system and the same industry steering group continues to direct its functions and features. The sites’ designer, Aidan Turnbull, Ph.D., and his team are now part of thinkstep and will continue product development and support.
“We are delighted to welcome Aidan Turnbull and his team,” said thinkstep’s vice president of business development, Michael Betz. “With these newly acquired assets, we can help our clients realize tremendous benefits for product stewardship across the lifecycle – using GaBi to assess product impact across the lifecycle, our integrated materials management (IMM) to select compliant materials, BOMcheck to help procure compliant parts from their suppliers and EC4P to manage their end-of-life recycling obligations.”
“This move allows our clients to gain added value from their product compliance and supply chain management efforts by re-using their data in product sustainability and life cycle projects,” said Dr. Turnbull. I am particularly excited about enabling users to export full materials data from BOMcheck into GaBi for life cycle assessment and eco-design projects.”
BOMcheck is an industry collaboration led by Siemens, Philips, GE, OSRAM, Sony Mobile, Schneider Electric, Toshiba, Agfa, Texas Instruments and TE.
“We are looking forward to building on our close collaboration with BOMcheck and thinkstep,” said Dr. Freimut Schroeder, vice president, Environment, Health and Safety at Siemens Healthcare GmbH.
