Using Nature to Make Progress on Your Sustainability Goals

American Forest Foundation

"The American Forest Foundation (AFF) is a non-profit conservation organization that protects and measurably increases clean water, wildlife habitat, and sustainable wood supplies that come from family-owned forests. AFF works with landowners, partners, leading businesses, and policymakers to address key issues such as conserving biodiversity, reducing risk of catastrophic wildfire, and addressing the threat of climate change. Through partnerships, programs, policy change, and tools for foresters, AFF helps family forest owners make a positive environmental impact.

AFF administers the American Tree Farm System (ATFS), the country’s oldest and largest certification and education program designed specifically for small family ownerships. ATFS is internationally-recognized and endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). It includes a network 70,000+ landowners managing 19 million acres. In partnership with The Nature Conservancy, AFF also runs the Family Forest Carbon Program (FFCP), which gives family forest owners access to carbon markets. "
