Shaw Industries Group, Inc. (Shaw) has completed the construction of a cogeneration Combined Heat & Power (CHP) plant at its Columbia, S.C. fiber production facility. The CHP, which began operating in May 2018, will reduce the plant’s annual greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 26,000 metric tonnes; that’s an impact equal to removing almost 5,500 passenger vehicles from the road each year.
This is the latest in ongoing investments Shaw is making to minimize its environmental footprint. The company recently announced it has achieved carbon neutrality in its commercial carpet manufacturing operations. Companywide, Shaw has made significant investments to help reduce its energy and greenhouse gas impact.

Bank of America Corporation announced today the issuance of its fourth and largest green bond for $2.25 billion in aggregate principal amount, furthering the company’s commitment to deploying capital to advance sustainable projects. The bond’s proceeds will support increasing renewable energy generation.
With this offering, Bank of America becomes the first U.S. financial institution to issue four corporate green bonds, raising a total of $4.35 billion for renewable energy projects since 2013. The company has also been the leading underwriter of green bonds globally since 2007, underscoring its continued leadership in addressing climate change by financing the transition to a low-carbon, sustainable economy.

UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced that it is working with UK-based technology firm ARRIVAL to develop a state-of-the-art pilot fleet of 35 electric delivery vehicles (EVs) to be trialed in London and Paris. These zero tailpipe emission, lightweight composite vehicles have a battery range of more than 150 miles (240 kilometers), which is significantly higher than other EVs currently in service. The vehicles will also come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that help to improve safety and reduce driver fatigue.
