As the director of biomimicry within Microsoft’s datacenter innovation team, Kaitlin brings nature to the design table to drive transformational innovations that are good for business – and even better for the planet. By exposing others to the common patterns that nature has honed over 3.8 billion years to create healthy ecosystems, Kaitlin inspires teams to ask new questions about how their designs interact with the world around them. For Kaitlin, the nature of innovation is recognizing that we are part of nature and have the choice and ability to build products and technologies that have a positive, lasting impact. Kaitlin holds a master’s degree in Biomimicry and is 1 of less than 100 people to achieve Biomimicry Professional Certification. She was awarded the Emerging Leader award from Arizona State University for her work in Biomimicry and in 2022 her work received the Data4Good Life on Land Award for her team's work on quantifying ecosystem performance on our datacenter campuses.
