Mami Hara

CEO
US Water Alliance

Mami Hara is CEO of the US Water Alliance, the nation's only cross-sector water network — convening utilities, businesses, environmental organizations, labor, frontline communities, and government around a resilient, equitable water future. A long-time champion of One Water — the integrated approach that serves both people and the environment — Mami has spent her career making the case that water and climate equity belong at the center of every community, infrastructure, and corporate sustainability conversation.

Her path is unusual: public utility CEO, urban planner and designer, national nonprofit leader. As CEO of Seattle Public Utilities, she stewarded one of the nation's largest integrated utilities — water, wastewater, solid waste, and stormwater serving 700,000+ residents — and led multi-billion-dollar infrastructure and climate resilience initiatives that set national standards. As First Deputy Commissioner of Philadelphia Water, she shepherded Green Cities, Clean Waters, the pioneering green infrastructure program that became a national model for how environmental investment drives community health and economic returns simultaneously.

Earlier, as a principal at Wallace Roberts & Todd, Mami led GreenPlan Philadelphia and equity-centered infrastructure strategies that unlocked opportunity in historically underserved communities across the eastern US. She has taught at PennDesign, Temple, and MIT, and holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard.

Across sectors, Mami has built the kind of cross-sector coalitions — utilities, labor, frontline communities, technical experts — that turn brand-nonprofit partnerships into deeply integrated, mutually beneficial work. She is a frequent speaker on infrastructure investment, regional resilience, water and climate equity, and the partnerships driving measurable, lasting change.
