Michael Sands is the Co-Founder and CEO of Smile Compostable Solutions, a Delaware Public Benefit “B” Corporation whose mission is to make the most environmentally friendly coffee packaging and foodware items including compostable coffee pods, bags, straws lids and utensils.
Sands is an entrepreneur, C-Suite leader, innovator, and investor. He held leadership positions at many companies in his 30+ years of experience in food, beverage, and social mission. In the past, he has served as the CEO of Yum Earth Organic Candy, CEO of Balance Bar Nutrition Co., and Chief Marketing & Operations Officer at Snapple Beverage Group. Other positions include Chief Marketing Officer at Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, Co-founder of Lesserevil Snacks, and strategic marketing roles at Inbev (Labatt USA) and Unilever.
Sands earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Babson College and was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Achievement for executives under 40. He was also an Inc. 500 award winner for owning one of the fastest growing private companies.
