Neil Theise is author of the recently released and highly acclaimed book, Notes on Complexity: The Scientific Theory of Connection, Consciousness and Being. A globally recognized pathologist and professor of pathology at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, he has been a pioneer of adult stem cell plasticity and the anatomy of the human interstitium. Dr. Theise's roots in science stretch back to pre-college obsessions with quantum physics, relativity, geology, astronomy, and cosmology, including summer vacations at astronomy camp, but for one summer at the Weizmann Institute in Israel studying particle physics. At the same time, he comes from a rich family tradition of devotional Jewish practices, and is now a Senior Student at the Village Zendo Zen Center in NYC and has been initiated into shamanic practice. His studies in complexity theory have led to interdisciplinary collaborations in fields such as integrative medicine, consciousness studies, and science-religion dialogue, which he has now summarized in his new book. Since publishing Notes, he has broadened collaborative connections to fields as diverse as graphic and performing arts, human-centered design, business and sustainability, and peacemaking.
