The index presents 187 listed companies identified as demonstrating a superior approach to climate change mitigation. “We are delighted to have made the A List, and to be recognized by CDP as being a world leader for corporate action against climate change,” says Flemming Funch, Vice President at Novozymes for Supply Engineering. “Sustainability is an intrinsic part of Novozymes’ business, and in 2013 alone, our solutions enabled our customers to reduce CO2 emissions by an estimated 52 million tons – that is the equivalent of taking approximately 20 million cars off the road. We have succeeded in reducing our own CO2 emissions by more than 50% per ton of product produced when compared to 2005. In 2013 alone, we reduced our own CO2 emissions by 8.2%, when compared to 2012, by optimizing our production processes and implementing 27 dedicated emission reduction projects.” Novozymes was simultaneously awarded with a position on the Nordic Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), also released today in the CDP Nordic 2014 report. Novozymes has been part of the CDP Nordic Climate Disclosure Leadership Index since 2010, and this year, has achieved the best possible disclosure score of 100. With this result, Novozymes has become one of the first few Nordic companies to achieve maximum scores for both performance and disclosure simultaneously. Disclosure to CDP’s climate change program is at the request of 767 investors who represent more than a third of the world’s invested capital. Information provided by nearly 2,000 listed companies is independently assessed against CDP’s widely-respected scoring methodology and ranked accordingly. CDP scores are communicated to investors and other decision makers through various channels, including Bloomberg terminals, and serve as a tool to evaluate and track corporate efforts to mitigate climate change.
