After being crushed and processed into recycled resins, the discarded materials will be used to produce a premium line of bags from Embalixo - the Embalixo com Alças - which carries the "Recycled Plastic. Conscious Cycle" label. The products are now marketed at all Pão de Açúcar stores. "Finding solutions that complete the packaging disposal cycle by our customers was a concern of Pão de Açúcar when establishing this partnership. Through the work of each agent involved, we will be able to bring to customers a product made of plastic materials discarded by them, thus reinforcing not only the environmental importance of the recycling process, but also the economic one," explained Thays Rosini, Sustainability Manager at Pão de Açúcar.

Embalixo, which is celebrating eight years of partnership with Braskem, believes that in the next three years, 70% of its products will have raw materials recycled or from a renewable source. "By working with Braskem, we reinforce our commitment to sustainability, as well as encouraging our consumers to assume this responsibility of having quality and sustainable products every day," said Rafael Costa, Chief Commercial Officer at Embalixo.

"This partnership is another example of Braskem's actions, which use innovation in the service of sustainable solutions. We want every day to develop business and initiatives for the utilization of plastic waste through partnerships such as the one with Embalixo and Pão de Açúcar, reinforcing our commitment to the plastics chain and the circular economy," said Fabiana Quiroga, Director of Recycling and the Wecycle Platform at Braskem.
