SAN FRANCISCO, April 21, 2016 – Sustainable Brands® recently announced activities in the Activation Hub at SB’16 San Diego, June 6-9, 2016 at Paradise Point Resort & Spa. As a central networking hub, this action-centered environment will serve as an ideation marketplace for global brands looking for specific solutions to scale sustainability initiatives.
Hosted by BASF, the Activation Hub is designed to cultivate conversation and debate around topics that mirror topmost initiatives in the SB’16 San Diego conference program. Designated areas will focus on participants providing solutions around 8 different themes: Smarter Homes and Cities, Supply Chain& Procurement, Circular Economy, Materials & Products, Driving Demand & Behavior, Leadership & Strategy, Sustainability Impacts and engagement with non-profits and NGOs in the Causeway. Themed areas will feature organizations providing operational management tools, nature-based product and packaging solutions, LCA tools, waste-to-resource solutions and more. Knowledgeable experts from organizations such as Shaw Industries, Braskem, MBDC, Rapport, The Sustainability Consortium, YK Center, jetBlue, Deloitte, Kohler, LaborVoices, AHA, thinkstep, Flag Communications, Nestlé, WhiteWave Foods Company and others will participate by showcasing their innovations and ideas.
Highlights include:
-
Target, in its 5th year hosting the SB Innovation Open, will feature 11 semi-finalist social and environmental entrepreneurs pitching business plans to an esteemed panel of judges on Tuesday, June 7th. Four finalists will be chosen to present on Wednesday, June 8th.
- Collaborative breakout sessions focused on elevating collective purpose will spill from the conference and into the Activation Hub on a daily basis. Attendees will hear case studies directly from Kohler, Ketchum, Edelman, Comcast, Forum for the Future and others.
- A dedicated area for organizations and nonprofits, the Causeway will be an opportunity for participants and attendees to engage with impactful and net positive causes.
- Companies in the Activation Hub will announce the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) they are committed to addressing, and around which they will align conversations at SB’16 San Diego. Goals such as Clean Water and Sanitation will be at the forefront for Kohler and MBDC, while Responsible Consumption and Production will see the support of six Activation Hub participants, including BillerudKorsnäs and Deloitte. Climate Change will be confronted by more than half of the participating brands.
“This is where tomorrow takes shape,” states KoAnn Vikoren Skrzyniarz, Founder of Sustainable Brands. “NGOs with a view to science-based solutions, entrepreneurs with ground-breaking ideas, global brands with resources to scale impact, and culture creators able to shift social norms will all be having tangible conversations focused on redesigning our economy with meaning and purpose at the core. The Activation Hub is where business innovators come to dialogue, co-create and find new tools and partners.”
