Sealed Air Supports Patriots Path Military Career Transition Program

Sealed Air Corporation today announced its partnership with Charlotte-based veterans’ organization Patriots Path. As a partner company, Sealed Air is sponsoring classes, donating classroom space for the five-week job skills courses and providing recruitment team members as job coaches.

“The purpose of Patriots Path is to transition veterans from the military into corporate culture through a series of training programs beyond resume building,” said John Tuomala, Executive Director of Talent Acquisition for Sealed Air. “The best compliment we can give Patriots Path is to hire veterans. By sponsoring and donating time as job coaches it allows us to get to know the veterans in the program with the ultimate goal to turn them into employees.”

A regional not-for-profit organization, Patriots Path offers classes that provide career transition strategies for military veterans (and spouses) as well as active duty National Guard and Reserve members who are unemployed or underemployed in the Charlotte region. During the five-week course, participants are engaged in topics including military to civilian transition, personality and interest assessment, career planning and networking. In addition, students work one-on-one with mentors to discuss personalized career searching and job shadowing.

“Sealed Air recognizes the important role that military veterans and their families play in our communities,” said James Whaley, Vice President, Global Corporate Communications for Sealed Air, and Chairman of the company’s Veterans Network. “With programs like Patriots Path, veterans have the opportunity during the transition period to gain the support necessary for successful and purposeful career choices. We are pleased to work with Patriots Path on this initiative.”

“Partnering with Sealed Air to hold classes on their campus gives students a chance to spend time in a corporate environment and learn more about specific business cultures,” said Noël Humphreys, Executive Director for Patriots Path. “Spending time “on-site” gives veterans a chance to see how important company culture can be and how much it can affect the day-to-day strategy and implementation. We are grateful to the Sealed Air Talent Acquisition team for hosting our Fall 2015 career transitions course in their new recruiting space and look forward to continuing to work closely with them to support our military members as they navigate the path to new careers.”
