- Horseshoe Hammond and Harrah's Joliet, both part of the Caesars Entertainment (NASDAQ: CZR) group of companies, today announced the assembly and delivery of 1,500 life-changing hygiene kits to local homeless families. According to the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, more than 125,000 people are homeless in Chicago, including more than 18,000 students enrolled in Chicago's public schools.
"Our relationship with Clean the World was initiated by an employee," said Dan Nita, Regional President, General Manager, Horseshoe Hammond and Caesars Foundation Trustee. "Housekeepers wanted to make a difference with the soaps and shampoo bottles they were throwing away on a daily basis. Their initiative has evolved into a program that helps millions of people around the world."

- The famed central strip of Las Vegas has often been called the ‘brightest spot on earth’ because of its powerful neon lights. However, the city has been working to reduce its environmental footprint, with many of the neon lights being replaced by LED screens, and its hotels and casinos increasingly adopting sustainable solutions to improve their energy and water use efficiency.
Caesars Entertainment, one of the city’s largest gaming businesses, has revamped its commitment to sustainability, and aligned its targets to eight of the 17 U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company has highlighted its “CodeGreen” environmental performance in its latest corporate sustainability report.

- Located on the Rincon Indian Reservation, in Valley Center, Harrah’s Resort Southern California (HRSC) has abundant access to the California sun. Excellent – what a perfect opportunity for solar. Since installing solar across the property in 2009, HRSC has saved more than $300,000 each year as the 1.6 MW of sun-powered energy generated annually does everything from chill the air that helps keep the resort’s 1,065 hotel rooms cool to maintain the perfect swimming temperature in the pools. As property operations manager Brendan O’Kane puts it, the solar system is “free power” – and it doesn’t get much better than that. - Think you can’t be surprised by the many delights of Las Vegas anymore? Drop by the Flamingo and you’ll find something pretty unexpected – a garden with tables and chairs made out of recycled wooden pallets. The garden, which will grow pesticide-free produce to be served at a variety of Caesars Entertainment restaurants, is a pilot project launched by Chef William Becker, Director of Culinary Operations at Caesars Entertainment.

- The Science-Based Targets initiative announced Tuesday that 114 companies have now committed to set emissions-reduction targets in line with what scientists say is necessary to keep global warming below the dangerous threshold of 2 degrees Celsius. The announcement was made at the LPAA Business focus event hosted by Caring for Climate at COP21 in Paris.
