Part of United Way’s Alternative Spring Break Program Allowing Students Opportunities to Give Back

Washington, DC – United Way in partnership with Kimberly-Clark's U by Kotex is hosting an Alternative Spring Break for 25 young women leaders from college campuses across the country. The week-long event will focus on empowering women and girls in service and leadership. The participants will take part in service projects throughout the week, meet with the White House Council of Women and Girls, and speak to Members of Congress and their staffers to advocate for policy changes related to human trafficking and empowering women and girls in Science, Technology, Education, and Mathematics (STEM) education and financial stability. The group will be accompanied by former White House Senior Policy Advisor from the Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships Mara Vanderslice Kelly, who is now leading United Way Worldwide’s anti-human trafficking effort.

WHAT: A meeting at The White House meeting to discuss human trafficking effort and women's issues followed by meetings on Capitol Hill to ask Members of Congress to cosponsor anti-human trafficking bills.
