BASF Honored with Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) named BASF a 2019 Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award winner for outstanding achievement in the manufacturing of ingredients that are safer for families, pets, workplaces, communities and the environment.

BASF is among this year’s 14 Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award winners and the only ingredient supplier to be honored.

“Safer Choice standards align with our values not only as global citizens and consumers, but also as responsible ingredient suppliers,” said Daniele Piergentili, Vice President, Home and Personal Care, BASF North America. “We strive to innovate in areas of biodegradability and sustainability and our diverse offerings enable us to provide the industry with numerous solutions.”

BASF’s Safer Choice portfolio includes chelating agents, processing aids and additives, surfactants, plasticizers and solvents that are used across applications for home care as well as industrial and institutional cleaning solutions.

To qualify for the Safer Choice label, a product must meet EPA’s Safer Choice Standard, which includes stringent human and environmental health criteria. About 500 formulator-manufacturer partners who make more than 2,000 Safer Choice-certified products for both retail and institutional customers engage in the Safer Choice program.

The EPA presented the 2019 Safer Choice Partner of the Year Awards during a public ceremony on September 25, 2019 in Washington, DC. More information on the 2019 Safer Choice Partner of the Year award winners can be found at www.epa.gov/saferchoice/safer-choice-partner-year-awards.
