Braskem is again included in BM&FBovespa Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE), a portfolio of listed companies that adopt the best social and environmental practices. Since the creation of the list, in 2005, the petrochemical company has been in its composition.
The permanence in the index reflects Braskem's commitment to the good practices of corporate governance, social responsibility, economic and financial management, and environmental preservation. "Our presence in the ISE for the 13th consecutive year demonstrates that it is possible to evolve in a sustainable way through a management strategy that generates value to the business while continuously minimizing negative environmental and social impacts caused by our activities and maximizing our positive impacts," said Jorge Soto, Director of Sustainable Development at Braskem.
The company's consistent history of promoting sustainability has led the company to become the first Brazilian company to join the "A" List of CDP Investor in Climate and Water, an international seal that acknowledges companies with standards of excellence in carbon and water risk management.
The new ISE portfolio includes 33 shares of 30 companies, representing 12 sectors and totaling R$1.3 trillion in market value, equivalent to 41% of the total value of companies with shares traded on the Brazilian stock exchange. The index will be in force from January 8, 2018 to January 4, 2019.
