For Best Buy, sustainability has been a been a priority for more than a decade, and we are proud of our successes, which not only benefit our stakeholders but make good business sense too. 8 months ago - For the third year in a row, Corporate Responsibility Magazine has named Best Buy to its list of 100 Best Corporate Citizens. The rankings are based on 260 data points, including environmental management, climate change, human rights, employee relations, corporate governance, philanthropy and financial performance. Our position has steadily increased over the past three years, from 100 in 2016, to 72 in 2017 to 59 in 2018. Being a good corporate citizen is not only the right thing to do, it’s good for business. Our company needs a healthy planet, strong communities and engaged employees to be successful.

4 years ago - The consumer electronics (CE) industry recycled a record 620 million pounds of electronics in the United States in 2013, according to a new report by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA).The total is more than double the amount (300 million pounds) of three years ago, as stated in the report, the Third Annual Report of the eCycling Leadership Initiative. The 2013 U.S. ecycling total is an increase of 35 million pounds over the 2012 level (585 million pounds).

5 years ago - Best Buy, Dell, HP and Samsung have won the Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA) inaugural eCycling Leadership Award, which recognizes consumer electronics companies that recycle above and beyond levels mandated by government.In 2011, CEA announced the eCycling Leadership Initiative to increase the amount of recycled consumer electronics to one billion pounds annually by 2016, an effort known as the Billion Pound Challenge. CEA says the industry is on track to meet this goal by recycling 585 million pounds of products in 2012.

5 years ago - Only three electronics retailers are making a serious effort to help consumers responsibly recycle their old electronic products, according to a new report card released Wednesday by the Electronics TakeBack Coalition (ETB). The Coalition is calling on the other retailers to step up and do their part to make it as easy to recycle as it is to buy electronics from them.Staples, Best Buy and Office Depot earned high marks on the report card, which graded the top 16 consumer electronics retailers’ recycling programs in the U.S. But more than half of the retailers flunked.
