The Mahatma Awards for Social Good spotlight changemakers and are awarded annually to individuals or organizations committed to addressing complex social issues like safe water, sanitation, disease, poverty and hunger.

- In honor of Earth Day, Kohler Co. is showcasing its work to repurpose industrial waste materials via a Facebook Live panel discussion. The panel, slated for Monday, April 23 at 2:30 p.m. CDT, will feature KOHLER WasteLab associates talking about their experimentation with byproducts from the company’s vitreous and cast iron manufacturing operations.
The team’s first project uses pottery cull, iron slag, and leftover glazes and enamel powder for a line of ceramic tiles, which the company expects to begin marketing under the Ann Sacks brand in 2019.

- Kohler Co. today announced a 15-year agreement to purchase 100 megawatts of wind power per year from the Diamond Vista wind farm located near Salina, Kansas.
Enel Green Power North America will construct the project this year and will be the long-term owner and operator of the nearly 300 MW wind project. Enel acquired Diamond Vista from Kansas-based renewable energy developer Tradewind Energy.

- The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has named Kohler, a global manufacturer of kitchen and bath products, the winner of its 2017 Ray Anderson Radical Industrialism Award at its leadership awards luncheon held in conjunction with the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Boston.
The award is presented annually in memory of sustainability leader and Interface modular carpet founder Ray Anderson to an organization that embodies vision, leadership and commitment to the evolution of green buildings and communities as vehicles to enhance quality of life.

- Kohler Co. has earned its fifth consecutive Sustained Excellence Award from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Kohler, the leading manufacturer of kitchen and bath plumbing products in the U.S., has partnered with the EPA’s WaterSense® program since 2007 and was recognized again in 2017 for its leadership in water-saving product innovation and consumer advocacy.
In 2008, the EPA named Kohler the first recipient of its WaterSense Manufacturer Partner of the Year Award. In each year since, Kohler has earned additional recognition from the EPA, including the agency’s first Sustained Excellence award in 2013.

- Congrats to the Kohler Ethics Communications team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa! Their 2016 campaign—including associate survey, essay competition and video—was honored with a Lotus Award from MARGINALIA magazine, which recognizes teams that invest in their workplace culture.
"A few years ago, talking about ethics in EMEA was tough," said Scott Feltner, VP of Internal Audit. "It's such a diverse region that getting traction on the topic was difficult. Under Emma Smales and Victoria Champion’s leadership, they have assembled a cross-functional team and created a lot of energy on ethics communication and awareness in the region. - Kohler Co. was awarded the US Water Prize for its water conservation efforts by the US Water Alliance yesterday during its One Water Summit in New Orleans.
The Water Prize is presented annually in five categories, including a private sector organization for outstanding achievement in advancing sustainable solutions to water challenges. Water Alliance leaders recognized Kohler as this year’s private sector honoree for its development and promotion of water-efficient products that meet the EPA’s WaterSense efficiency requirements.

Living on the street means not only finding a place to sleep and a source of food, but often going days or even weeks without the basic dignity of a hot shower or access to restrooms.
