CVS Health and Direct Relief have partnered to provide $1 million in flu shot vouchers to community health clinic patients in underserved communities lacking health insurance.

Nearly 100 participating clinics will identify uninsured individuals from their existing patient populations and provide them with a flu shot voucher redeemable at any CVS/pharmacy® or MinuteClinic® location.

Direct Relief's network of more than 1,200 community health centers and clinics nationwide enables CVS Health's generous contribution to reach people in need.

Community health clinics that received flu shot vouchers are located in the following metropolitan areas: Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; New York City, NY; Newark, NJ; Orlando, FL; Philadelphia, PA; Phoenix, AZ; Tampa, FL; Trenton, NJ.

This is the latest move by CVS Health, which officially rebranded from CVS Caremark to reflect its broader commitment to healthcare. CVS Health encompasses the company’s retail business, which will continue to be called CVS/pharmacy; its pharmacy benefit management business, known as CVS/caremark; its walk-in medical clinics, CVS/minuteclinic; and its growing specialty pharmacy business, CVS/specialty.

CVS Health first illustrated its commitment to healthcare in February when it decided to discontinue the sale of all tobacco products at its more than 7,600 stores across the US by October 1, 2014. It was the first action of its kind by a national pharmacy chain.
