Heineken® and Tribeca Film Festival® Make a Splash with +Pool Documentary

Every summer, New Yorkers get a few truly sweltering days where they’d like to take a dip to beat the heat. They might even wonder what it’s like to swim in New York City’s rivers. Heineken®, together with Tribeca studios, just debuted a new documentary and virtual reality films that show how a first-of-its kind, floating pool will make that thought a reality.

The eight-minute documentary, Floating an Idea: The Story of +Pool, shares the story of how +Pool plans to create a floating, Olympic-sized pool that will filter out contaminants, cleaning up to a half-million gallons of water each day to create swimmable water. It also chronicles the history of New Yorkers interacting with their rivers, dating back to floating bathhouses in the 1800s.

If you’d like to swim in +Pool when the project is complete, go to SwimIntheRiver.com to sign a free pledge. If 100,000 pledges are signed, Heineken will contribute $100,000 to the project’s development.

The film was created as part of The Cities Project by Heineken. Cities are the life-blood of Heineken's story and, through The Cities Project, Heineken is committed to making a positive impact in cities all around the globe (check out other U.S. projects here).

This collaboration is another example of Heineken’s larger commitment to Brewing a Better World, which aims to actively connect with and serve the communities in which Heineken® does business or calls home.
