“Buy a Pair, Give a Pair” eyeglass brand Warby Parker has teamed up with San Francisco-based design nonprofit Architecture for Humanity (AFH) on a limited-edition set of two AFH-designed frames, inspired by architects' appreciation for innovative design and durable construction, according to AFH.
Warby Parker says the two collaboration frames, Aslin and Fowler, are inspired by an appreciation for streamlined angles and durable materials — the company says it paired Japanese titanium to its signature acetate for extra durability.
Architecture for Humanity provides construction, design and development services for communities in developing and disaster-ravaged areas with the goal of “building a more sustainable future through the power of professional design.” In honor of the nonprofit’s 15th anniversary, the partnership will see $15 of the proceeds from each pair, with a minimum contribution of $15,000, donated to AFH to help fulfill the organization’s mission to provide safe shelter and access to water, power and sanitation for communities in need around the world through sustainable design.
And being Warby Parker, for each pair purchased a pair will be donated to someone in need through the company’s partnership with nonprofit VisionSpring. The promotion runs through September 6.
Brought to the forefront by TOMS, first with its shoes and now with its new Roasting Company, the buy-one-give-one model continues to proliferate, with companies from Plum Organics and YumButter to SoapBox Soaps and Bombas Socks providing food and amenities to those in need around the world.
