MILLERCOORS LAUNCHES MONTHLONG VOLUNTEER EFFORT TO PROTECT WATER
Thousands of Employees Volunteer to Protect Water Resources During Great Water Month
CHICAGO (Sept. 8, 2016) — MillerCoors is kicking off its largest annual volunteer event to protect beer’s most important ingredient: water. Each year the brewer designates September as “Great Water Month,” when thousands of MillerCoors employees participate in projects across the nation to protect local water resources and promote water stewardship. The projects take employees off-campus and into their local communities to repair riverbeds, clean up coastlines and remove trash.
The brewer works in partnership with a variety of local organizations to execute Great Water Month projects. Now in its eighth year, Great Water Month continues to grow, with thousands of volunteers and projects in over a dozen communities, including:
Albany, Ga., Friday, Sept. 30
The Albany Brewery will team up with the Flint River Keepers to clean the banks of the Flint River and Lake Chehaw.
Chicago, Friday, Sept. 30
Employees will partner with the Shedd Aquarium on water improvement projects in and around Chicago.
Chippewa Falls, Wis., Saturday, Sept. 24
Employees and local partners of the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company will clean up the Beaver Creek Reserve.
Colfax, Calif., Saturday, Sept. 17
The Crispin Cider Co. team will participate in the Yuba River Cleanup.
Elkton, Va., Friday, Sept. 16
Volunteers from the Shenandoah Brewery will partner with the Shenandoah National Park to provide general cleanup maintenance in the park and also clean out culverts to prevent future erosion.
Fort Worth, Texas, Saturday, Sept. 17
Employees will be part of the Trinity River Bash, spending the day cleaning up trash along the Trinity River.
Golden, Colo., Thursday, Sept. 8
The brewery will partner with the City of Golden to clean the banks of Clear Creek River. They will also hold supplemental Great Water Month events in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and the Green Way Foundation on Sept. 22 and Sept. 24, respectively.
Irwindale, Calif., Saturday, Sept.**** 17
The brewery will participate in Coastal Clean-up Day by working at Bolsa Chica State Park.
Milwaukee, Friday, Sept. 16
Employees will work with River Revitalization Foundation on Milwaukee’s lower east side. There they will plant, clear trails and remove invasive species from the waterfront.
Trenton, Ohio, Thursday, Sept. 29
The MillerCoors Trenton Brewery will work with the City of Trenton and the Friends of the Trenton Community Parks on a beautification project at the park next to the Great Miami River. The project will consist of planting trees and spreading mulch around the area of the park amphitheater**.**
