SAN FRANCISCO, September 20, 2012 – Sustainable Brands this month announced three new members to its Corporate Community. Sprint, eBay and Caesars Entertainment join over two dozen companies committed to leveraging their unique role in focusing stakeholder energy toward a healthy and sustainable future.
One of the key drivers behind the growth in Sustainable Brands’ Corporate Community is a shared belief that the time is now to move beyond learning to collective action. Last year, members established a Corporate Call to Action and agreed to focus on three key areas:
(1) creating consumer demand for more sustainable products
(2) driving disruptive (vs. incremental) innovation
(3) continuing to evolve the business case for migration to sustainable brands
eBay, Sprint and Caesars Entertainment join Molson Coors, Philips, Novozymes, Mars, Steelcase, Unilever, Coca-Cola, Ford, Target and others in continuing to address these crucial focus areas. "As one of the newest members to Sustainable Brands, we have been impressed with the resources, networking and collaborative opportunities offered by this group," said Gwen Migita, Vice President of Sustainability and Community Affairs at Caesars Entertainment Corporation. "We look forward to developing meaningful relationships and working cohesively with other Sustainable Brands members in the coming year."
Member meetings such as the December 12th gathering hosted Nestlé Purina in their corporate offices in St. Louis, MO, are designed to create and encourage more productive connections between the member companies, especially across varied industry sectors, and to catalyze collaboration and relationship-building while creating integrated approaches to business challenges. The group is committed to openness, authenticity and mutual respect in finding new ideas and connections to help support industry-wide and cross-industry initiatives. "We are looking forward to being a part of the Sustainable Brands community so that we can continue to collaborate with like-minded companies on key sustainability issues and corporate responsibility best practices,” said Bill White, senior vice president Corporate Communications and Corporate Responsibility at Sprint.
An additional offshore meeting has been added for November 29th in London, immediately following Sustainable Brands’ inaugural offshore conference, SB London. “As our community and conversation expands abroad, the opportunity exists to help our members engage their internal teams across continents in their efforts to engender success through sustainability,” notes Sustainable Brands founder KoAnn Skrzyniarz. “At both of our fall meetings, corporations will be comparing their various internal efforts to understand and impact consumer demand and shift consumer behavior toward preference for more sustainable products and services. They will also be exploring institutional behavior that supports personal, community and global environmental and social well-being.”
