Ocean-bound plastic supply chains often rely on a workforce that is at risk for social and economic exploitation and exposed to degraded environmental conditions. Additional care is needed to ensure social responsibility throughout that type of supply chain, and informed analysts agree that most, if not all, current efforts are falling short in that regard. This session will discuss the launch of a new framework for socially responsible ocean-bound plastic supply chains designed for business-to-consumer and business-to-business brands interested in social responsibility for all workers through to the collection level. The main objective is to provide brands and their supply chain partners with a resource that helps guide them to focus on the most critical issues, ask the right questions, diagnose challenges and develop and implement action plans to continuously evolve ocean-bound plastic sourcing.
