Ethical Markets, the World Business Academy (WBA) and the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business recently announced they are accepting nominations for the 9th annual EthicMark Awards for ads and media campaigns that “uplift the human spirit and society.”
The EthicMark Awards is a permanent project of the WBA that seeks to transform advertising, by demonstrating the power of media campaigns to further both the public interest and legitimate private interests, the announcement says.
“EthicMark Awards recognize the tremendous power of the media to shape social attitudes and national culture,” said Steve Schueth, president of First Affirmative Financial Network. “The responsible investment industry has for many years advanced the notion that investment capital, when directed consciously, can help solve the pressing social, political, and environmental challenges of our times. The EthicMark Awards recognize similar efforts in the realm of mass media.”
The awards are open to ads and media campaigns running between January 1, 2012 and May 15, 2013 and can be produced by businesses, nonprofit organizations or individuals.
Hazel Henderson, who founded the Awards in 2004, said: “We welcome nominations of all media campaigns that uplift the human spirit and society. We hope the 2013 nominations include campaigns designed to transform the culture of consumerism that is fueling climate change, destroying the earth’s ecosystem, and depleting its natural resources.”
Nominations can be submitted on Ethical Markets Media’s website.
The winners will be announced at the 24th annual SRI Conference on Sustainable, Responsible, Impact Investing on October 28, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
