AT&T Commits to Minimize Waste

As part of our commitment to create a better, more environmentally sustainable world, we’ve set a goal to achieve “zero waste” at 100 AT&T facilities – including our AT&T* Global Headquarters in Dallas – by the end of 2020. Our program will start this year and will include strategies to reduce waste and increase recycling and composting, with a goal of diverting 90% or more of our waste from landfills.¹

“It takes all of us working together to protect our planet. That’s why we want to apply the power of our network and our people to be part of the waste solution,” said Charlene Lake, chief sustainability officer and senior vice president-Corporate Social Responsibility, AT&T. “Stepping onto the path to zero waste is another way our employees are helping to improve our global headquarters community and other communities where we live and work.”

AT&T’s zero waste goal builds on our existing programs to keep waste out of landfills. The new goal also supports the Green Dallas Initiative and complements our new downtown campus – the AT&T Discovery District, which will become an environmentally sustainable, community destination for AT&T employees, local residents and tourists.

AT&T’s environmental commitment extends beyond waste management. We are one of the largest corporate purchasers of renewable energy in the U.S.² We’ve set a 10x Carbon Reduction Goal to enable carbon savings 10x the footprint of our operations by the end of 2025.

Across our company, we’re working to make our network, fleet and operations more efficient. We’re also helping our customers reduce carbon emissions and use the Internet of Things (IoT) for Good, by connecting everything from trucks, to farm equipment, to city infrastructure and more.
