L’Oréal USA announced today that it has received a 2017 Green Power Partner of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The company was one of only two organizations nationwide to be chosen as a 2017 Green Power Partner of the Year, which recognizes Green Power Partners who distinguish themselves through their leadership, overall strategy and impact on the green power market. The award was presented at EPA’s annual Green Power Leadership Awards Luncheon to Jay Harf, Vice President, Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability for L’Oréal Operations Americas. The awards ceremony was part of the 2017 Renewable Energy Markets Conference in New York, where the EPA recognizes America’s leading green power users for their commitment and contribution to helping advance the development of the nation’s voluntary green power market.

“We are proud to be named the Green Power Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,” said Frédéric Rozé, President and CEO of L’Oréal USA. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our U.S. Operations teams whose tireless efforts have allowed us to exceed our global carbon reduction goals, and to whom we credit for reaching 100% renewable electricity across all of our U.S. plants and distribution centers.”

L’Oréal USA is currently using 100% renewable electricity across its 21 U.S. manufacturing and distributions facilities. The more than 86 million kWh usage is equivalent to the electricity use of more than 8,000 average American homes annually. Additionally, L’Oréal USA ranks as No. 85 on EPA’s National Top 100 list, which highlights EPA Green Power Partners using the most renewable energy annually.

Through its global sustainability program, Sharing Beauty With All, L’Oréal is committed to reducing its environmental footprint, strengthening its positive social impacts and transforming how it operates, innovates, designs and manufactures its products. At the end of 2016, L’Oréal USA had already reduced its carbon emissions by 84 percent in absolute terms (from a 2005 baseline). In 2017, the company announced the completion of two large-scale commercial solar arrays at its Florence, Kentucky (1.4 MW) and North Little Rock, Arkansas (1.2 MW) manufacturing facilities, adding to the existing 15 solar and wind installations across the U.S. For more information on L’Oréal USA’s sustainability program and its Sharing Beauty With All objectives, commitments and achievements, please visit www.sharingbeautywithall.com.
