Press Release / Let’s face it — if you’re breaking news with a sustainability report, you’re probably doing it wrong. We came to this realization several years ago as we were changing up our reporting structure. We had moving stories, first-hand accounts and brilliant pictures. We also had great data, and loads of information on governance, policies, training and management. Did it really make sense to hold all this material and send it into the world once a year in a fell swoop?Probably not. So we broke our “report” into a real-time blog, and an online reporting resource that we update at least annually (if not more frequently). A year into this change, I’m happy to say it’s going well. - 8 years ago

An Intelligent Approach to Water Management
An Intelligent Approach to Water Management

Press Release / By: Michael Sullivan, IBM Smarter Water Management Executive*The Third in a Series About Machine-to-Machine Technology and Water Management.Properly maintained water systems underpin our quality of life. Inefficiencies in how we manage our precious water resources are very costly. Municipalities must spend a tremendous amount of money moving and treating water, and on average 25 percent of water produced never reaches end users because of leaks and water main bursts. Couple all these expensive repair bills with extreme weather patterns that are either leaving cities with way too much -- or far too little water -- and it’s no wonder why water crises are now ranked as the top threat to economic development worldwide. - 8 years ago

It’s so bad — we all stare, but we can’t help it. Everyone wants to know who you are and why you’re here.” - 8 years ago

Hitting the Jackpot for Water Management
Hitting the Jackpot for Water Management

Press Release / By: Susan DiegelmanThe Second in a Series About Machine-to-Machine Technology and Water Management.Lake Mead provides up to 90 percent of Las Vegas’ water and experts estimate that since 2000, an ongoing drought robbed the lake of 4 trillion gallons of water. With 584,000 residents and millions of tourists each year, the Las Vegas Valley Water District brought its distribution system into the 21st century; it had to. A fragile combination of groundwater, water reuse systems, and desalination and banking systems make meeting the daily water needs of Las Vegas possible. For Las Vegas, every drop counts. - 9 years ago
