Greenpeace Canada Supports FSC Responsible Forestry Standard

In June, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Canada celebrated the first anniversary of its new responsible forest management standard — which has received strong support from industry and NGOs alike.

The new responsible forest management standard has received strong support from FSC partners including Chantiers Chibougamau (a 2019 FSC Leadership Award winner) — which has already transitioned 2.4 million hectares of forest to the new standard; and Procter & Gamble, which continues to support FSC through its sourcing of FSC-certified fiber for its paper products.

Environmental organizations including Greenpeace Canada and NRDC continue to be strong supporters of FSC. Recognizing that this is no time for “business as usual,” Greenpeace Canada supports FSC Canada’s new responsible forest management standard, as it uniquely protects Indigenous rights, local communities and wildlife.
