Danone, Nestlé, Mondelez, PepsiCo, Walgreens Unite to Help Consumers Lead Their Healthiest Lives

The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) is on a mission to help consumers make healthier choices with the launch of a new pilot campaign in Hagerstown, Maryland. Developed in partnership with Healthy Washington County and Consumer Goods Forum retailers and manufacturers Colgate-Palmolive, Danone, General Mills, Johnson & Johnson, Campbell, Kellogg Company, Mondelez International, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Target, Walgreens Boots Alliance and Walmart, the One for Good campaign aims to support community members in adopting healthier diets and lifestyles.

Consumers everywhere are increasingly taking greater interest in their personal well-being, whether that’s eating better, getting active or enhancing personal care and hygiene. The One for Good campaign is working to support consumers and communities in this ambition, partnering with public health initiative Healthy Washington country to support their efforts to address ongoing diet and health challenges. The One for Good campaign believes that taking a collaborative approach is the most effective way to ensure positive, long-term outcomes.

The campaign will see retail stores promoting healthier products, bearing the One for Good logo and messaging. Activities such as health and wellness fairs and community-driven events will also take place as retailers and manufacturers work together to provide health and wellness support and information to consumers.

“We are happy that CGF members have chosen Hagerstown for their pilot campaign. Our goal at Healthy Washington Country is to help people in the region better understand their personal health status and provide the meals to help individuals achieve their healthiest potential,” said Allen Twigg, Executive Director of Behavior and Community Health at Meritus Medical Center and Healthy Washington County. “By working with consumer goods companies — and benefiting from their important role in our community — we feel that the One for Good campaign will help consumers better understand the choices they make and how to make ones that lead to healthier lives.”

“As global companies, we understand that we have a responsibility to make communities healthier and we want to help consumers understand that we are partners with them in their health and wellness efforts. We are delighted that though the CGF we are collaborating with Healthy Washington County to bring One for Good to life in the community of Hagerstown. Only by working together with public health authorities, local governments and community advocates can we expect to see the types of sustainable changes that make for a healthier community,” said Isabelle Grosmaitre, Alimentation Initiative Catalyst at Danone.

The One for Good pilot is part of a global framework on Collaboration for Healthier Lives, part of CGF’s Health & Wellness Pillar. Its mission is to drive retailer and manufacturer collaboration for positive change, benefiting people and communities, as well as businesses.

Through Collaboration for Healthier Lives pilots and models, CGF’s approach aims to spur greater retailer-manufacturer collaborations and scaling up of programs that bring together many to help inspire healthier communities and create a culture of prevention.

A similar pilot program — and the first of its kind of in the region — was launched in Bogota, Colombia earlier this year. Supported by CGF members Alqueria, Cencosud, Femsa, Grupo Bimbo, Grupo Éxito, Kellogg Company, Nestlé, PepsiCo and The Coca-Cola Company, Give a Healthy Twist to Your Life provides consumers with nutrition and physical activity guidance and aims to educate and empower consumers to make more informed food-purchasing decisions.
