Ford has announced that it will offer its employees in Shanghai with ongoing education about the importance of recycling e-waste and access to an e-waste recycling system. The program, financially supported by the Ford Fund, is part of Better World Initiative and done in partnership with Green Initiatives’ [WE] Project.
The more than 1,000 employees of Ford headquarters will be able to place used electronics in numerous collection boxes located around the facility. Items can include mobile phones, appliances, storage devices such as external hard drives and USB drives, physical media including CDs and video games, entertainment equipment such as televisions and musical instruments, and electronics of all varieties.

Stratham, NH based outdoor lifestyle brand, Timberland, opens its first completed project in its five-year commitment to create and restore urban green spaces starting with New York City. In partnership with local nonprofit GrowNYC, Timberland and volunteers transformed a vacant lot in the Mott Haven Neighborhood of South Bronx, New York into a vibrant community garden. The restoration project came full circle with a service event that kicks off Timberland’s busy fall season of service, and also commemorates 9/11; something Timberland has done each year since September 11, 2001 when employees volunteered at a Bronx elementary school as tragedy struck.

A new forecast by DNV GL concludes that while progress will be made towards many of the United Nations’ (UN’s) 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs, or Global Goals), there is a very real risk that they will not be met by 2030. Eastman began observing Earth Day events in 2013 in KJ. Volunteers recently used their time and talent to continue a tree planting project that was started last year.

DETROIT – General Motors is adding 2 million water bottles from Flint, Michigan residents into its Do Your Part water bottle recycling initiative. The company partnered with Schupan Recycling to collect the bottles. The plastic is washed, flaked and turned into fleece to make three products: Chevrolet Equinox V-6 engine covers, insulation for The Empowerment Plan coats for the homeless, and air filters for 10 GM plants.
